The Stepping Stones Group is seeking dedicated Behavior Technicians to support elementary students in school-based settings during the 2026-2027 school year. This is more than a job. It's a chance to help young students build academic, behavioral, communication, social-emotional, and independent living skills while you gain hands-on experience in education and behavioral support.You'll work alongside teachers, special education staff, behavior specialists, and therapists to support students with behavioral, developmental, academic, and social-emotional needs. The role combines instructional support and behavioral intervention, helping students stay engaged, follow classroom expectations, and reach their Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals. We have multiple full-time openings.Pay: $22-$23 per hourSchedule: Monday-Friday, full-time, school-day hours, 37.5 hours per week (7.5 hours per day plus a 30-minute unpaid break), no evenings or overnightsSetting: Onsite, elementary school, 1:1, 2:1, and classroom support in general education and special education classroomsSites: Possible support at 1-3 school sitesStart date: Immediate, through the end of the 2026-27 school year (late May)Employment type: What You'll DoProvide 1:1, 2:1, and small-group support throughout the school dayProvide behavioral support and behavioral intervention, and implement behavior support plans and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs)Provide emotional support and general academic support, including help with assignmentsReinforce positive behaviors using evidence-based practicesHelp students build self-regulation, communication, and social skillsCollect and document behavioral data and student progressAssist the teacher(s) and classroom aides as needed, including supporting the classroom when your assigned student is absentAssist students during transitions, arrival, dismissal, lunch, and recess as assignedProvide toileting and diapering assistance and personal care as neededSupport implementation of IEP goals and classroom accommodationsMaintain accurate documentation and student records, and maintain confidentialityMinimum QualificationsAt least 8 months of autism experienceProof of completion of a 40-hour behavioral training course OR 6 months of applied behavior analysis (ABA) experienceState Educational Assistant (EA) certification, Level 3, in hand, or pending with only a final district form outstandingAbility to pass fingerprinting and a background check, and to complete district trainingStrong communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to follow school, district, and student support proceduresAuthorization to work in the United States; English proficiencyYou'll Thrive in This Role If You Are Open To:Working with students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), emotional disturbance (ED), other health impairments (OHI), and significant behavioral needsWorking with medically fragile studentsWorking in both general education and special education settingsWorking with students of all ages, and adjusting your caseload or school site (1-3 sites) based on district needsProviding toileting and diapering assistance as neededWorking fully onsite and in personPreferred Qualifications8 months or more of experience with severe or aggressive behaviors (strongly preferred)Health or medical background, such as nursing, CNA, medical assistant, or healthcare experienceRegistered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification, or willingness to obtain itExperience in school-based, behavioral health, ABA, special education, childcare, youth services, or direct support settingsKnowledge of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS)Experience supporting students with IEPs and BIPsCPI, Safety-Care, or other de-escalation trainingAssociate's degree or coursework in education, psychology, behavioral science, child development, social work, or a related fieldRelated Experience We ValueExperience as a Behavior Technician, Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), Behavioral Health Technician, Paraprofessional, Educational Assistant, Instructional Aide, School Aide, Direct Support Professional (DSP), Student Support Assistant, or Special Education Assistant is highly valued.
