Mental Health Behavior Specialist

The Stepping Stones Group, in collaboration with Anderson School District Two, is seeking a Mental Health Behavior Specialist to deliver hands-on coaching and consultation to school staff supporting students with high-intensity behavioral and mental health needs. In this role, you'll partner directly with teachers, counselors, and administrators to build their capacity to implement effective, individualized intervention strategies in the classroom. Working within a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework, the MHBS plays a critical role in equipping school teams with the tools and confidence to help high-needs students succeed socially, emotionally, and behaviorally. 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or other Related Field (Masters level preferred)  
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a school, mental health, or other related setting 
  • Demonstrated expertise in behavior management, crisis intervention, and student support, with the ability to effectively coach both adults and students
  • Experience working with special education students is highly preferred

What You'll Do:

  • Conduct classroom observations to assess individual student needs, then partner with staff to identify and implement the most effective strategies for their setting  
  • Provide targeted interventions such as small groups, check-in/check-out systems, and short-term counseling on an as needed basis  
  • Respond to and help manage student crises, including de-escalation and stabilization 
  • Develop and support Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) and behavior assessments 
  • Coach teachers and staff on classroom management and proactive behavior strategies 
  • Monitor student progress and behavior data to adjust supports and identify trends 
  • Coordinate with school teams to ensure aligned, consistent
