Community Therapy Services, a division of The Stepping Stones Group, is seeking a passionate and qualified Child Development Specialist to support young children and families through early intervention services. Location: Antelope Valley, CA
Pay: $23.00 - $29.00 per hour
Schedule: Part-time to start, with opportunity to grow into a full-time caseload
Position Overview
As a Child Development Specialist, you'll provide in-home and community-based services to infants and toddlers (0-3 population). You will play a key role in supporting developmental milestones, coaching caregivers, and partnering with families and interdisciplinary team members to ensure each child's growth and success.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in early childhood education or child development (required)
- 2+ years of experience as a CDS or in a similar role
- Fluent in English; bilingual skills a plus
- Strong knowledge of early intervention principles and strategies
- Excellent time management and communication skills
- Reliable transportation for travel across service areas
- Able to pass background check and comply with HIPAA guidelines

Clinical Responsibilities
- Provide generalized therapy across all developmental domains through early intervention principles in home and community settings.
- Conduct developmental assessments and mentor other Child Development Specialists.
- Create and assign parent education goals, and deliver caregiver training.
- Utilize a data collection platform to track skill growth and complete interdisciplinary reports.
- Collaborate with Speech Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, and other team members.
Professional Responsibilities
- Arrive on time to scheduled sessions and maintain professionalism.
- Follow dress code and guidelines as outlined in the BLC-SSG handbook.
- Communicate schedule changes (e.g., make-ups, cancellations) with parents, supervisors, and the administrative team.
- Adhere to attendance and missed shift policies outlined in program manuals.
- Accept and implement guidance from supervisors and Regional Clinical Managers/Directors.
- Attend quarterly team meetings.
- Manage caseload effectively to optimize service delivery.
- Complete additional duties as assigned.
- Demonstrate professionalism, patience, motivation, and strong interpersonal skills.
- Maintain confidentiality in line with BLC-SSG standards and HIPAA regulations.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- Fluent in English with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent time management and navigation skills (knowledge of street routes/maps).
- Professional communication (avoid slang) across all interactions.
- Comfortable using electronic communication platforms.
- Reliable transportation with current liability insurance.
- Ability to pass Livescan fingerprinting and background check.
- Ability to comply with BLC-SSG HIPAA privacy and security practices.
Physical & Mental Demands
- Ability to stand, sit, twist, kneel, crouch, walk, and play on the floor for extended periods.
- Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 40 lbs. without assistance.
- Respond appropriately to client behaviors, including potential elopement situations.
- Serve culturally and linguistically diverse families across varied socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Comfortable working in a variety of home environments, including those with limited resources.
- Capable of handling multiple concurrent tasks with interruptions while maintaining professionalism.
Working Conditions
- Services provided in homes and community settings within Antelope Valley, CA
- Must have reliable transportation to travel between client homes and regional offices.
- Office-based work is moderately quiet, with regular use of phone, computer, and office equipment.
- Vision requirements include close work, report writing, and reviewing reports authored by peers.
