School-Based Mental Health Associate (MHA)

Job Type: Part-Time | 25 hours per week
Pay: $33 - $37 per hour
Schedule: Monday through Friday

About the Role

ERA ED, a division of The Stepping Stones Group, is hiring immediately for a part-time Mental Health Associate (MHA) in Redondo Beach, CA. This position is ideal for registered associates (AMFT, ACSW, or APCC) looking to build clinical hours toward licensure while working in a supportive, mentorship-driven environment.

Work takes place across home and school-based settings, offering hands-on experience with children, adolescents, and families. Associates gain exposure to IEP teams and school district partnerships while receiving quality supervision and professional development through our year-long Mental Health Training Program.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive counseling services to children, adolescents, and families presenting with mood, anxiety, trauma, and neurodevelopmental disorders using evidence-based treatments
  • Deliver short-term, strengths-based counseling and skill-building interventions
  • Provide prevention and early intervention services (individually or in groups) to improve coping, behavior, and engagement
  • Engage caregivers through psychoeducation and family sessions
  • Collaborate with IEP team members and participate in IEP meetings
  • Work alongside school staff and multidisciplinary teams
  • Facilitate groups and workshops within the school setting to promote mental health awareness
  • Respond to crises including safety planning and risk assessments
  • Complete timely and accurate clinical documentation
  • Maintain caseload management and coordinate care with community resources
  • Participate in weekly supervision and required trainings

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Counseling, Psychology, or a related field
  • Registered Associate with the Board of Behavioral Sciences (AMFT, ACSW, or APCC) - current or in process
  • Availability Monday through Friday; ability to commit to 20 hours per week
  • Clinical experience with children and/or adolescents preferred
  • School-based service experience preferred
  • Valid California driver's license and reliable transportation
 

Mental Health Training Program

All Mental Health Associates participate in the ERA ED Mental Health Training Program, which runs each school year from August 1 through July 31, with possibility of extension. Associates are expected to participate for the full program year. Supervised Professional Experience is provided in accordance with regulations set forth by the Board of Behavioral Sciences.

Associates are expected to participate for the full program year.
