The Stepping Stones Group is seeking a dedicated Behavior Technician to support students in a school-based setting during the 2026-2027 school year. This is more than a job. It's a chance to help students build academic, behavioral, communication, social-emotional, and independent living skills while you gain hands-on experience in education and behavioral support.You'll work alongside teachers, special education staff, behavior specialists, and therapists to support students with behavioral, developmental, academic, and social-emotional needs. The role combines instructional support and behavioral intervention, helping students stay engaged, follow classroom expectations, and reach their Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals. Clinical supervision is provided by The Stepping Stones Group.Pay: $27-$31 per hourSetting: Onsite, PK-12, 1:1, 2:1, and classroom support in general education and special education settingsSupervision: Provided by The Stepping Stones GroupStart date: Immediate, through the end of the 2026-27 school year (mid-June)Employment type: W-2Location: Shared with candidates during the application processWhat You'll DoProvide 1:1, 2:1, and small-group support throughout the school dayProvide behavioral support and behavioral intervention, and implement behavior support plans and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs)Provide emotional support and general academic support, including help with assignmentsSupport students with daily needs, which may include mobility, feeding, toileting, and diaperingReinforce positive behaviors using evidence-based practicesHelp students build self-regulation, communication, and social skillsCollect and document behavioral data and student progressAssist the teacher(s) and classroom aides as neededAssist students during transitions, arrival, dismissal, lunch, and recess as assignedSupport implementation of IEP goals and classroom accommodationsMaintain accurate documentation and student records, and maintain confidentialityMinimum QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalentProof of completion of 40-hour behavioral training course OR must have 6 months of ABA experienceExperience in special education, behavioral support, juvenile justice, mental health, or similar settings is requiredAbility to complete a TB test and fingerprinting and a background checkReliable personal transportationComfort with toileting and diapering assistanceStrong communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to follow school, district, and student support proceduresAuthorization to work in the United States; English proficiencyYou'll Thrive in This Role If You Are Open To:Working with students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), emotional disturbance (ED), other health impairments (OHI), and significant behavioral needsWorking with medically fragile studentsProviding toileting, diapering, mobility, and feeding supportWorking in both general education and special education settingsWorking with students of all ages (PK-12), and adjusting your caseload or school site based on district needsWorking fully onsite and in personPreferred QualificationsSchool-based experience (highly preferred)Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification, or willingness to obtain itExperience with severe or aggressive behaviorsExperience in behavioral health, special education, childcare, youth services, or direct support settingsKnowledge of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS)Experience supporting students with IEPs and BIPsCPI, Safety-Care, or other crisis prevention and de-escalation trainingAssociate's degree or coursework in education, psychology, behavioral science, child development, social work, or a related fieldRelated Experience We ValueExperience as a Behavior Technician, Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), ABA Therapist, Behavioral Health Technician, Paraprofessional, Educational Assistant, Instructional Aide, School Aide, Direct Support Professional (DSP), Student Support Assistant, or Special Education Assistant is highly valued.
