This role is specifically focused on providing mental health services to Special students who present with significant social-emotional and behavioral needs. The ideal candidate will be a licensed professional (LCSW, LMFT, or LPCC) who has a passion for supporting the social, emotional, and behavioral well-being of students, enabling them to achieve academic and personal success. This position plays a critical role in our commitment to providing a comprehensive support system for all students.The clinician will work collaboratively with school site teams, families, and community partners to deliver evidence-based mental health services to students with significant needs. This role requires a strong understanding of child and adolescent development, trauma-informed care, and the implementation of intensive, data-driven interventions. Key Responsibilities:Provide In-Home Counseling: Deliver direct, evidence-based therapeutic interventions to a caseload of Special Education students. This includes, but is not limited to, utilizing modalities such as Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and other appropriate interventions.Develop and Implement Individualized Support Plans: In collaboration with the student, family, and school-based team (including teachers, administrators, and school psychologists), create and implement individualized support plans that outline specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART) goals. Crisis Intervention and Risk Assessment: Provide immediate crisis intervention and support for students experiencing acute distress. Conduct thorough risk assessments for self-harm and harm to others, and coordinate with appropriate school personnel and external agencies as necessary. Family Engagement and Support: Engage families in the therapeutic process through regular communication, family therapy sessions, and parent education/coaching to support the student's well-being across home and school environments. Collaboration and Consultation: Serve as a key member of the Student Services Team; provide consultation and guidance to school staff.Case Management and Community Linkages: Connect students and their families with appropriate community-based mental health services, resources, and supports to ensure a continuum of care. Data Collection and Progress Monitoring: Maintain accurate and confidential student records in compliance with legal and ethical standards. Systematically collect and analyze data to monitor student progress towards goals and make data-informed adjustments to interventions. Qualifications:Must possess a valid California license as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) with the Board of Behavioral Sciences Master's degree in social work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related field from an accredited college or university. Experience working within a school setting and/or with a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) is highly desirable.
