Our Approach at CAS

At Community Autism Services (CAS), we believe school-based ABA is most effective when clinicians are empowered to collaborate deeply with educators, families, and students. Our approach to this role is consultative at its core: we're focused on building the capacity of PreK and Elementary teams - coaching RBTs and educators so strong practices continue well beyond our involvement.
You'll be backed by a team of CAS BCBAs, plus structured mentorship and clinical leadership - so you can focus on delivering excellent, consistent support from day one.

Role Overview

As a School-Based BCBA at CAS, you'll take a consultative, capacity-building approach to supporting PreK and Elementary programs in San Francisco - partnering with a team of BCBAs and the school's RBTs to sustain strong behavioral programming, support IEP teams, and build lasting internal capacity among school staff.
This role is ideal for BCBAs who thrive in consultative, team-based settings, enjoy building the capacity of others, and want to make a meaningful impact within a well-established school-based program.

What You'll Do

  • Conduct comprehensive Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and develop individualized Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) for PreK and Elementary caseloads
  • Utilize a range of assessments (e.g., VB-MAPP, ABLLS-R, AFLS, SSIS) to identify strengths and learning needs
  • Collect, analyze, and apply behavioral data to guide decision-making and monitor progress
  • Ensure fidelity of implementation through ongoing data review and program adjustments
  • Coach and model evidence-based behavioral strategies for teachers, instructional assistants, and support staff
  • Partner with a team of BCBAs to coach and build the capacity of RBTs and behavior technicians - a consultative role without direct supervisory responsibility
  • Collaborate with special education teams, administrators, and families to support generalization and long-term success
  • Serve as a consultant to IEP teams, contributing to student-centered behavioral programming
  • Deliver professional development sessions, workshops, and classroom-based trainings
  • Maintain timely, accurate documentation aligned with district and regulatory standards
  • Implement proactive behavior support and crisis prevention strategies
  • Provide in-the-moment guidance and debriefing during behavioral escalation

How Success Is Measured

Success in this role is defined by:
  • High-quality, ethical, and effective behavioral programming
  • Strong collaboration with school teams and families
  • Consistent data-driven decision-making
  • Positive student outcomes, sustainable supports, and strengthened capacity within the school's RBT team
  • Professionalism, reliability, and follow-through
____________________________________________________________________________________

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Applied Behavior Analysis, Psychology, Special Education, or a related field
  • Current BCBA certification in good standing
  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience providing ABA services in school-based or educational settings, ideally spanning PreK through elementary-age populations
  • Experience conducting FBAs, writing BIPs, and coaching or supporting RBTs and behavior technicians in a consultative capacity
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills with school personnel and families
  • Commitment to ethical, compassionate, student-centered care

Why CAS Is Different

We intentionally design school-based roles that:
  • Balance autonomy with meaningful clinical support
  • Prioritize collaboration over isolation
  • Invest in clinician growth across settings
  • Support sustainable, long-term careers in ABA
