Assignment Overview

Anderson School District One is seeking Mental Health Professionals to serve students across its elementary schools for the 2026-2027 school year. Each MHP will be assigned to two (2) school sites and will rotate between locations to provide consistent, high-quality mental health services.

Role Overview

As a Mental Health Professional with The Stepping Stones Group, you will play a vital role in supporting the emotional well-being and mental health of elementary students in Anderson School District One. You will work collaboratively with administrators, school counselors, district office administrators, teachers, parents, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure comprehensive, coordinated support for every student you serve.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain a consistent 40-hour workweek presence across assigned elementary school sites.
  • Conduct individual and group therapy sessions for students in grades K through 5th grade.
  • Assess and evaluate students' mental health needs through comprehensive clinical evaluations.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans tailored to each student's needs.
  • Conduct risk assessments and respond appropriately to students in crisis.
  • Collaborate with administrators, teachers, parents, school counselors, and district staff to provide holistic, comprehensive student support.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential records of student progress in compliance with applicable regulations and district policies.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, IEP meetings, and other relevant school-based gatherings as appropriate.
  • Stay current with the latest research, best practices, and regulatory requirements in the field of school-based mental health.
  • Travel between assigned school sites as required by your assignment.

Qualifications & Licensure Requirements

Licensure (Required)

Candidates who hold one or more of the following active South Carolina licensures are strongly preferred:
  • Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)
  • Licensed Independent Social Worker - Clinical Practice (LISW-CP)
  • Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)

Experience

  • Preferred: Prior experience in school-based mental health services or a related counseling field.
  • Experience working with children and adolescents in a clinical or educational setting is highly valued.
  • Comfort working in a multi-site, community-based environment with the ability to manage time effectively across school locations.

Additional Requirements

  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required for travel between assigned school sites.
  • Ability to pass a background check in accordance with district and state requirements.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Commitment to culturally responsive, trauma-informed care.
